Arghhhh. How are you doing? Here's at least some perspective. Last week one of my friends (husband of couple who both play) was killed in a biking accident in CO. So, I'm glad you're still on the planet with us! Going to the service on Friday; there were services in CO last week. Stanley was from Grand Junction area and was there when he died. This and Ted Kennedy too. Makes for sobering thoughts. The first leaves are turning and the birds gathering hereabouts. And I have a second grandbaby due in 3 wks. Life is precious.

Oh, and the summer. Due to budget constraints as I job search, I've stayed local more than usual. Try to swim in clean water at least once a week (20 min either W or E to get to it; Madison's lakes, not so clean); just went to one with daughter Nary, her daughter Korinah and partner Luther, and two of my many godkids yesterday. Saw the new godson in utero pix; due soon. We rebuilt the sweat lodge Monday. Started a Gnostic Practices class. Picked up tutoring, writing work etc to pay for the basics. It was a low-key pleasant season. The veggies from our sustainable ag organic share were plentiful and as usual I read stacks of books. A highlight was a rare long visit from daughter Michelle who is a prison educator in Santa Fe; we went up north to a B&B together, among other things. I'm planning a fall trip to that B&B with a friend/adopted sister and a developmentally disabled woman she cares for, an experiment to see how Sal tolerates trips. How was your summer? Lynne

Your kids sound like my daughter, Michelle, who plans to go back to grad school in the near years and to have no children. Daughter Nary comes from a huge his, hers, and ours Cambodian family and she gives me the grandkids, although she works 6 days a week doing nails and it's her partner Luther who does most parenting -- and is good at it, too. Nary's lucky to have him; he has a twin sister, Mom, Grandma and Greatgrandma at home in South Chicago and he gets living with women pretty well. Goodnight for now. Be well! Lynne

You know, Michelle still may too, but she sounds pretty decided not to; we'll see.

"I guess everyone has to find the time that's right for them. I just hope I have a little wisdom left to pass on by the time the grandkids show up..." Exactly! I can see already some of the ways in which having me as one of her grandparents will help Korinah (granddaughter almost 3); she needs to be able to take her time with things, and her family rushes her and she then digs in with a toddler "NO!". Godson Danny and I were talking about how he, Korinah and I were the slow-mo crew out of all the many others in our extended family, and how glad we were to have each other to confide in! These things are making sense of what can become wicked problems at the level of when they first take root, before all the rootworks of complicating factors lattice life. I am conscious of this when I'm with my godkids and grandchild.

Danny came out with a long and unexpected monologue about what I've meant in his life this week and reminded me of how much each little thing we think, observe, do, say affects everything else.

I love networks -- in the global sense and in what we call personal realms, actuated by computers, organizations, biorealms, families... they make sense to me like nothing else does. Guess that's why I'm here :)

Nice to hear about you and yours! Thanks. Lynne with an e
