I think it's interesting that you talk about shifts. Let me toss in a link to the <a href="http://www.readwriteweb.com/enterprise/2009/07/john-hagel-interview-implications-of-shift-index-enterprises.php" target="_blank">Shift Index</a> which, I think, takes shifts, mostly the switch from reliance on <i>stocks</i> to interest in <i>flows</i>, to new dimensions for deliberation.
